news from the cpi(m)
November 24, 2009
For the past few days an email has been making the rounds containing an
attachment of the image of a bunglow, purportedly owned by CPI(M) Kerala
State Secretary and Polit Bureau Member, Pinarayi Vijayan.
Genuine concerns have been raised concerning the authenticity of the
allegation and the origin and veracity of the report.
Denying that the house belonged to him, Pinarayi Vijayan lodged a police
complaint against those who were circulating the mail. Based on this
complaint, the Kerala police arrested two persons who were circulating
the mail.
It has now come to light that the mail originated from a Gulf country.
The house belonged to a Non-Resident Indian and Pinarayi Vijayan had
nothing to do either with the house or its owner.
Such defamatory emails, as in the past, are aimed at tarnishing the
image of the Party and lowering the esteem of its leadership in the eyes
of the people. These have been over-zealously lapped up by sections of
the media ever bent on denigrating the Party and its leadership.
